Detection and antibiotic treatment of Herbaspirillum huttiense isolated from in vitro explants of Eucalyptus sp
نویسندگان
چکیده
In vitro assays involving explant cultures aiming the establishment of a genetic transformation protocol for the Eucalyptus grandis vs. E. smithii hybrid were hampered by the contamination of the explants. One yeast and one bacterium were isolated. The bacterium was identified as Herbaspirillum huttiense (Leifson) Ding and Yokota, with which further analyses were carried out and its response to different antibiotics were evaluated. Amongst 34 in vitro tested antibiotics, 12 inhibited bacterial growth. Sulfadiazine, streptomycin, kanamycin and penicillin were selected for determination of the minimal inhibitory concentration. Sulfadiazine, streptomycin and kanamycin presented inhibition halos at 256 and 512 mg L-1, while penicillin did not display bacteriostatic effects in concentrations up to 1024 mg L-1.

متن کاملEvidence for two possible glnB-type genes in Herbaspirillum seropedicae.
Two glnB-like genes have been isolated from Herbaspirillum seropedicae by complementation of the Klebsiella pneumoniae glnB502 mutant for growth on nitrate. One of these glnB-like genes has been sequenced and shows strong identity with GlnB proteins derived from other organisms. A Tn5-20 mutation of this glnB was Nif negative.
متن کاملIn vitro shoot organogenesis from Eucalyptus sp. leaf explants
Background In vitro organogenesis is one of the key techniques associated with genetic transformation, as it determines the successful regeneration of transgenic plants after co-cultivation with bacteria. Therefore, the development of efficient regeneration protocols is the most critical step in developing genetic transformation. Protocols have been developed for several species of eucalyptus. ...

Abstract Background and Objectives: Efflux pumps are one of the main mechanisms for antibiotic resistance in Escherichia coli strains. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between 5 different efflux pump genes; acrA, acrB, emrA, emrB and mdtk and fluoroquinolone resistance in E.coli Isolated from patients with urinary tract infections in Qom. Methods: In this descriptive cr...

Background & Aims of the Study: Antibiotic resistance is an important problem in health care. The aim of this study was the survey of prevalence of bacteria isolated in a university affiliated hospital (Kerman, Iran) and detection of antibiotic resistance among major pathogens. Materials & Methods: In this cross-sectional study, during a 3-year period (from June 2006 to June 2009) 14699 sa...
